Hello - I'm Kirsty.
Something brought you here today, and that takes courage. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or carrying something you can't quite put into words, I'm here to help you make sense of it.
Reaching out for counselling can feel daunting, especially if you’re unsure where to turn or what to expect for yourself or your young person. I help young people (11+) and adults who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, low mood, painful life experiences or trying to cope with life challenges alone. Through counselling, I offer a safe, compassionate, and confidential space for you to feel heard and supported, allowing you to explore what feels challenging in your life and discover your own way forward.
My background includes supporting children, young people, and adults across a wide range of mental health and emotional wellbeing difficulties within NHS and charity mental health services. These experiences have strengthened my understanding of the importance of feeling safe, heard, and understood when reaching out for support and trusting a person to help you when life feels overwhelming or uncertain.
I am a qualified and experienced psychotherapeutic counsellor offering 1-to-1 counselling for children and young people (ages 11-18), and adults (18+). I am trained Integratively, which means I use a range of approaches to support the therapeutic relationship, including person-centred therapy, Psychodynamic therapy, Transactional Analysis, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
I adapt my approach to what you find most helpful and tailor sessions to your individual needs, whether that’s talking through unhelpful patterns, building skills to manage anxiety, or exploring deeper emotional experiences that keep resurfacing. I am guided by what feels most meaningful and helpful for you.
My practice is neuro-affirming, trauma-informed, and inclusive. I warmly welcome and affirm neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ clients, and I am committed to creating a space where all identities and lived experiences are respected and valued.
What is important during our sessions together is the therapeutic relationship within counselling. I believe that meaningful change happens when you feel truly seen, understood, and accepted. Within this relationship, I offer empathy, openness, and collaboration, creating a space where you can express yourself freely, make sense of your experiences, and discover new ways of coping and feel more equipped to manage what you are finding difficult at present.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and work in line with their Ethical Framework for Good Practice. This means I am committed to providing you with a professional, safe, and ethically grounded space.
If you choose to begin counselling with me, I will be alongside you, offering support, reflection, and understanding as you navigate what feels difficult and begin to reconnect with your own strengths and sense of self.
Each person’s journey is unique, and you do not need a diagnosis or clear label to begin counselling. Whatever you are finding difficult, I offer a compassionate, non-judgemental space to explore what is going on and to support you in finding ways forward that feel right for you.
